EID Is Selected To Furnish And Install Custom Elevator Cabs In Winthrop Square Project, Boston MA

Elevator Interior Design (EID) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the company of choice to furnish and install 18 custom elevator cabs for the Winthrop Square project in Boston, Massachusetts. In collaboration with Millennium Partners and Suffolk Construction, EID is partnering with Schindler Elevator Company, who oversees the complete vertical transportation portion of the project.

Located in Boston’s Financial District, Winthrop Center will give new definition and vitality to this part of the city. The massing of the tower is designed to be a beacon on the Boston skyline, while showing deference for the adjacent One Winthrop Square property and other neighboring Art Deco-era buildings that were built between the 1920’s and 1940’s. Although it is technically one tower, the structure of the building splits into two as it rises, and each form is treated differently on the skyline.

The elevator cab design, in development with Handel Architects, will include a rear wall feature panel comprised of Bendheim Houdini (Waterfall) Laminated Glass as the first layer, an expanded metal second layer, and a decorative metal third layer, creating a three-dimensional panel. The side walls will complement the rear using Classic Light Travertine stone and Rift Cut Walnut, depending on office or residence tower application.

Wood veneer ceilings complete the interiors using indirect perimeter LED lighting to highlight the finished walls.

The team at EID is honored to have been selected for this prestigious project.
