EID and Schindler are Chosen to Create Custom Cab Interiors for New York City’s Hard Rock Hotel

Elevator Interior Design (EID) has partnered with Schindler Elevator Company to create custom elevator cab interiors for the new Hard Rock Hotel in New York City, which is currently under construction. EID recently entered into a contract with Schindler to take on the elevator cab project for what will be a 35-story hotel, located just a few blocks from Times Square.

The main southern elevation will be covered in glass and the Hard Rock logo will be emblazoned at the very top, just below the roof parapet. The logo will also appear on the eastern elevation, above a lower setback.

EID will install a unique forms and surfaces wall panel system on the sides and rear wall of the cab. The customer was not sa

tisfied with the standard satin stainless-steel cab front (door panels, return panels and transom) finish options and directed EID to face the entire front wall of the cab. EID will seamlessly face the cab front wall components with custom fused nickel bronze that features a fingerprint resistant ceramic coating.

Located between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, the 225,000-square-foot hotel was designed by Berg + Moss Architects and is being developed by Extell in partnership with Hard Rock International. In addition to 445 guest rooms, the hotel’s amenities will include a rooftop lounge and bar, a restaurant, a lobby lounge, and an underground speakeasy.

The hotel’s grand opening is currently slated for 2021.
