Going Up: Women’s Business Enterprise Certifies Elevator Interior Design

Elevator Interior Design is proud to announce their certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) from the Women’s Business Enterprise Council Metro New York, adding to their previously held certification in Massachusetts. This highly coveted designation is the premier private sector certification that gives woman-owned businesses an array of resources to grow their companies. The WBEC Metro NY is one of the 14 regional partner organizations of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest certifier of woman-owned businesses in the US and a leading advocate for women entrepreneurs.

To qualify as a WBE, a business enterprise must be at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women. Elevator Interior Design is led by Barbara Dunn, President and CEO, who joined the company in 2011 and became co-owner in 2015. Ms. Dunn brought her vast experience in the commercial construction industry and successes in stabilizing and growing small and medium sized companies to Elevator Interior Design after the company, like so many others, was struggling from the financial crisis. Remarkably, in her first year with Elevator Interior Design Ms. Dunn stabilized the company, in her second year the company experienced growth, and in her third and fourth years the company tripled its size under her direction.

Elevator Interior Design is looking forward to capitalizing on the many benefits the WBE certification offers. The WBENC offers multiple regional and national networking events to help its members further their professional connections. Certification also gives access to the organization’s network of corporate partners. Companies and government representatives utilize their membership database to find companies to fulfill contracts. Other opportunities in the WBENC include educational programs, financial resources, and scholarships.
